Fast Food at Night

super-size-me-dvd

Tonight, I went to go pick up Adam Fleming and his family from the airport in Nashville. As I went with another Allen, we decided that we needed to get some food, so we stop at the worst place in the entire world to get food. You guessed it, even without the golden arches, McDonalds. The food was tasty, until about an hour later, now I feel like I am about to die. But the moral to the story is that it is never good to eat fast food at night, period. It’s not good for you, it leaves you feeling gross and above all it wasn’t nutritional at all.

The same is true for those who try to get Spiritual food from fast food places. They watch TBN, or read a book written by some whacko preacher (so called), or they get online and read garbage. You can’t replace a hearty spiritual meal with fast food junk. We need to guard our heart and our heads from fast food Spirituality. (especially at night.) The Best remedy for Spiritual food is the Word of God. Read it, meditate on it, study it, pray through it and obey it. We need to live by the word and live on the Word. Jesus said, “Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.” (Alan Version paraphrase of Matthew 4) We need to be like David who said that God’s word is “Sweeter than the honey in the honeycomb.” So lets feast on the rich, nurishing food of the Bible.

I hope that all who are reading this blog, are doing well in your through the Bible in a year reading schedule. Don’t be weary in well doing. If you don’t have a plan here is a great website: http://www.esv.org/assets/pdfs/rp.one.year.tract.pdf
