We’re having a Boy!

dscf0235

The days of anticipation are over, as most of you have heard, this is the news that we received on Monday at 8:10am, “It’s a boy.” As April, her mom, her sister and I watched the ultrasound monitor, the tech asked, “Do you want to know the sex?” We said, “Yeah! Sure do!” I was so wanting to say, “This is the whole reason why we are here!” Then we heard “BOY.” I looked at April and we both smiled. It was fun to hear. Honestly, neither one of us cared about the sex of the child, just that the child is healthy. But for me, as the dad, I was a little happy to have a boy. My thought was: “Wow, another Wildcat and Cub fan is born.” But then I thought, “what if the boy is going to be just like me when I was little?” You know that it is inevitable. My mind thinks of the woman that cursed me a few years ago when she said, “I hope you have children just like you.” Oh wait, that was my mom!

Regardless, babies are amazing and cool. (except when they scream or whine…jk) To me, the most amazing thing about babies is how they grow in the womb. They start out resembling something like a tadpole, they grow into a full body the size of a G-I Joe action figure and in nine short months they fill out to be a 6 to 13 pound baby. (I was 10lb 10ozs)  During nine short months, their brain, heart, lungs, ears, tongues, fingers and toes are formed and grow with each and every step of the process is taking place inside of their mother. (May I add… there is nothing more beautiful and more interesting than a woman that is pregnant.) And everything that goes on inside the womb of the mother is a wonderful work of God. Psalm 139:14 I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well.

What is more overwhelming is that in the body of the tiny baby inside his mother’s womb is soul and spirit that is eternal. Just as the body is formed by God, the life of the child is given by God. Just as God breathed the breath of life into Adam, so God breathes the breath of life in us.  This child has a soul and spirit that are eternal and stamped with the image of God. The sad thing is that because the child is my child (just like every child with an earthly father) this child will be born into sin. He will be born a sinner by birth and totally depraved. (Ephesians 2:1) He image of God is marred in him because of the Fall of Adam in the garden. This baby boy, no matter how cuddly and cute, will be born a lost sinner in need a Savior. The wonderful news is that there is Savior for this little boy. He is the same Savior that his daddy has, his name is Jesus. He is the one Savior of the World and the only Savior of those who place their faith and truth in Him. (Acts 4:12, John 14:6, 1 John 2:2)

So as I have received the news that I will be having a little boy, I have already begun to pray that his mother and I would raise him in the loving nurture and admonition of our Heavenly Father. (Ephesians 6:1-4) I pray that God would save him and that God would use him for His Glory. I pray that God would bless his life and that he would be successful in the eyes of God. Although it just four months until he enters into the world, I want to pray every day for Aaron Michael Brumback. It is amazing to have the thoughts of being a daddy, but above all I want to be a godly daddy. So Pray for me!

(After writing this I wanted to add that we need to pray for so many others in our church that have recently had a child or are expecting a child. Also, we need to be praying for and be sensitive to those who are still without a child or have lost a child but so earnestly desire for one. Only God can comfort those families.)

I’m back to Blogging

blogging_monkeys1It’s been a long hard month of life, marriage, ministry and school. I have been really bogged down but I now hope to get back to blogging. God really is treaching me many things and life is going on so I want to share those things to those who might care.

No Internet

Here  I am in Jacksonville Florida… its my 25th Birthday… just finished running, listening to Sovereign Grace, Andrew Peterson and t4G music. What a wonderful day! I am at the Pastor’s conference in Jacksonville and am having a great time. I ate at a greasy spoon which had the best flounder and shrimp and key lime pie I’ve ever had. On top of all that I have done all of this with my wonderful wife. God is such an awesome God. Yet there is a dilemma in the midst of this paradise… I have no internet in my room. I have to come down to the community business center to type out this nonsense that 10 of you read. But I just thought I’d give a shout out to all who would read.

As you read this I am praying for our services at White Stone. I am praying that God’s power will empower the service and that God would move mightily in the service.

So as you read this blog pray for White Stone and for us as we are traveling.

More to come later…. “A mighty Fortress is our God.” Psalm 46

What You Didn’t See During the Superbowl

This Ad was supposed to be played during the Superbowl and was originally approved by NBC but was pulled because they thought it was too much. This is the same station that ran GO Daddy commercials. Go Figure?!? Props to Kurt Warner and the Cards; I wish you could’ve won!

Gotta beat those Gamecocks

I’ve never seen a chicken fight, but in Lexington there will be a cat and chicken fight. UK takes on Darrin Horn’s Gamecocks at 2pm CST. The game is a must win for both parties. UK needs it to remain a force to reckon with, while USC needs it to get some legitimacy and build momentum. UK will have to be better than they were against the Ole Miss Rebels and Meeks will have to have his groove on. Also, some will have to stop Downey or it could be a downer for the Cats. I was at a UK v. USC game 3 years ago and saw Rondo hit a three in the corner to beat the gamecocks. I don’t think that will happen today. I say UK by 8 points going away.

Watch out they… they have Gamecock Jesus on their side:
